In the first century AD, the Romans built a temple dedicated to the cult of the Emperor – most likely Augustus – in Liberalitas Julia, today the Portuguese city of Évora. The temple was partially destroyed by the invading Barbarians, four centuries later. Then, throughout time, it had different reconstructions, different looks, as a result of the very different functions it was given. Surviving all these changes, the ruins we can admire today are actually what has been left from the original building. To my eyes, the illumination symbolises the leading light of Change, History. The fog adds to the mystery that still envelopes the foundation of this building.
